The foot passes through the shoe
as a beam of light through a prism
The “Homage to Prism” project was inspired by 20th century psychedelic art and Pink Floyd’s iconic Dark Side
of the Moon album cover.
The Prism shoe, created at 2014, was the first 3D printed shoe at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, it was fabricated using PolyJet technology with a FullCure 720 material.
The design process spans hand sketches, digital modelling, and scaled testing, emphasizing an interplay of geometric precision and aesthetic experimentation.
It highlights the intersection of two distinct forms, conveying the presence of the feet even in their absence.

01 \ Inspiration
The shoe was inspired by 70s and by Pink Floyd's iconic album, Dark Side of the Moon.
02 \ Shape Study
An experiment was conducted using a prism in the dark, while shining a focused light to capture the interplay of light and the shapes created by the prism.
This exploration served as the starting point for the design process, leading to the search for a transparent material that could effectively allow light to pass through.
